So we finished the church just in time! Had more problems with electricity, so we rented a generator... after 3 days the generator wouldn’t work so we went back to “borrowing” electricity. We finished out gabled ends and set up half of the trusses on Monday night. Tuesday we finished setting trusses, putting up all the cross connections, and laid half the metal sheeting. I wanted to push to finish the metal sheeting but it was getting late... so we held off till Wednesday morning to finish. We got up early and finished the sheeting and ridge cap before breakfast. Then I had to go to town to return tools, get money, and buy tickets to leave for Bogota. Got back around noon and the guys had cleaned out the church, made a platform from the extra blocks and got it all ready for worship. We ate lunch and said bye to Jesus, because he was traveling to Barranquilla.
Around 4:30 in the afternoon me and Javier got on our bus to Bogota. We arrived Thursday morning around 8 and he headed out with his friend to spend the day in Bogota before his flight out. I caught another 4 hour bus to Sogamoso where my friend Juliana lives. The view was unbelievably beautiful! Juliana took me around and showed me stuff and I spent till Sabbath afternoon around 4 PM, when I had to head out on the bus to Bogota again (traveling at nights isn’t the safest, and I wanted to get to the Hostel before too late). When I was with her we ate super awesome food, went out for desserts, spent a late evening with friends, bought some local stuff for me to take home, and just hung. The area is SOO beautiful! Of all the places I’ve traveled, this is my favorite; the culture, the clear Spanish, the kind people, the beautiful mountains, and cool weather (even though I normally like it hot). I dream of someday returning to Colombia to live.
So anyways! I got on the bus to Bogota and was looking for hostels to stay at. I found one but didn’t know when to get off the bus or anything else. I had temporarily misplaced my ticket that I needed to claim my bags from below when the bus stopped where I needed to get off. So I went one extra exit and got off. Some super nice taxi driver took me to the ATM and then the hostel. We had a great chat on the way there. When I finally got to the hostel, it was full. I kept praying that God would lead me, cause it was dark out and I really didn’t want to walk around in the dark with all my bags in downtown Bogota, even though I’m in a safe district. The lady at the first hostel told me of a big one a few blocks down and a tiny one right next door.
I went to the tiny one and it was almost empty! $10 dollars for a night with wifi, hot showers, and a free breakfast! God truly does provide and take care of our every need. Tomorrow, Sunday, I will be going to see 1 thing in Bogota before I fly to Panama, then see something in Panama before my flight Monday morning to the states! I love traveling, loved my time with Juliana and friends, and loved the completion of the church. I just love how God knows what I desire and gives me these little opportunities to enjoy life as I follow Him.
I just wanted to again say, thank you all for your support, prayers, and donations to this project! I’ll try and post photos on here when I get home, but if you can’t wait... I have a bunch that I’ve been uploading to Facebook regularly. Enjoy!
