Sink or Swim

We are 3 course up, hoping to get to 5 today before dark. Unfortunately all the people we have now are it, no more are coming... which is about 8. Normally we do the churches with at least 20... so we are a little short but we are still going to get done on time, Lord willing. Today the money transfer went through, and we were able to access more money to buy the roofing materials. We are heading there now.

They normally pump water to our village in the morning and evening, but for some reason there have been 2 days so far without water. We showered at the river on Friday evening before it started getting dark. I wanted to do the same yesterday, but they say the river fills with snakes at night and nobody goes there at night. So we went and bathed at someone else’s house who had water left from the day before. We finally have the water and electricity for the site figured out, which is a blessing.

I preached Sabbath in this big town while Jesus (remember, our construction guy) translated for me. Afterwards we ate a 5 star meal! I’ll try and post a photo. And we spent the whole afternoon with 2 or 3 couples. It was so fun getting to know them and I really want to come back here to Colombia someday to spend more time with them.

It’s been interesting working, and I’m learning patience. This project is definitely different then the power system Rich rolls in Mexico where 25 people or more have specific jobs and the walls go up in just over a day. It’s a lot slower and we are doing a lot of teaching, but it’s ok. Thankfully I expected these setbacks in my plan and gave us ample time to finish. At one point we had one bag of cement left when the cement truck rolled up with the load we ordered a week ago. Talk about God’s perfect timing!

I think with the bad internet here I will have to wait till I get back to the states to post all the pictures, but I’m trying to take some every day! Thanks so much for the prayers and support, it’s cool to see God working every day!

Our revised schedule is to have the 5 courses up by tomorrow mid morning and be pouring a beam around the middle of the wall because of the blasting at the carbon mines. Then hopefully get 7 courses by the end of tomorrow. Wednesday we are hoping to put up block to 11 courses if we have the block, and start working on building the trusses. Hoping to have block done by Friday evening and roof done by Monday night. Just ordered all the roofing materials, and found a few more things.

Because of the exchange rate it was millions of dollars and we had to count all the bills. It was interesting to say the least.
