Mission trips on Mission trips
Well! Seems about time to share a little bit about whats been going on lately. At MOVE we had a sickness go around that was super nasty and and pinkeye at the same time. Thankfully the pinkeye was limited to one of my boys and a few of the mission kids and it didn’t pick up speed like last year. I also was able to keep healthy and not catch the really nasty bug that was going around. We had both Academies come through, and I flew to the states and back, and then it all seemed to calm down. Everything got back to normal and feels pretty good until this week. Jeff told me that I need to do a project this summer but up until this week I didn’t have a clue what I was going to do. I got tickets to fly up to the states and potentially work on flying (I’m still waiting to hear back from the FAA about my test results). Either that or I was just going to volunteer at camp or work at a YMCA or something. But! This Monday Jeff and Keila talked to me and the other student in my program and said that we are going to Colombia to lead out in building a church. They have a small fund for our project that hopefully will pay for our travels and thats about it. Me and Javier (the other student) jumped right in, maybe me a little more that Javier. I LOVE to travel so going to a new country got me really excited! Plus its were my mom was born and where my grandparents worked as missionaries so that got me even more stoked! We got a contact and made some calls. We called two sisters that live right near the church and after talking for a bit they offered to let us stay at their big house there and that they would cook for us. Then we got the contact for the Pastor and he said he would find 2 good construction workers and look for materials for us. We received a few more contacts and today talked to Diego who is going to get about 4 youth to meet us there with him and help us. He said he also will try and advertise to raise money for the church! It was crazy to see how much God has done just in the past 4 days! We found and are preparing to buy tickets, found a place to stay for free, people that will cook for us for free, and our group of workers to build the church (more or less). The sisters are selling food and working to raise money for the church, the pastor said they have a very little bit. But since when has money ever been a problem for God? We are stepping out in faith knowing that he will provide the funds. Please keep us in prayer as we plan communicated and work together to gather money for the church with these people over the next few months! We plan to arrive there and start construction the very beginning of July.
The students here at MOVE have been planning there own mini mission trip here in Belize, which they are in charge of leading. Sounds like we will be heading south to Punta Gorda (PG) down in southern Belice. We will be leaving this Monday morning at 3 AM to begin the travels. Please also pray as these students lead that they will have knowledge and leadership skills. It’s interesting being staff now cause I don’t have to plan anything, but I do have to do whatever the students tell me… which is going to be a different experience. When we get back from the mission trip we have 1 week till their commission ceremony and then we send them out to their projects hopefully! Just over 2 weeks and I’ll be heading back up to the states for some doctors appointments and to see friends and family.
We had some really interesting bible studies recently over the state of the dead and hellfire, I was proud of how my students handled them. and besides that I’ve just been working around here like normal, and jamming on my ukulele whenever I get the chance (thanks to my grandma and another donor). Praying for all my friends who have gone through or are going through finals! its crazy to think that if I never went to Bolivia, and didn’t leave college, I would have been graduating this weekend. But I’m so thankful for the plans that God has for me and the way he has lead me. Anyways! Thanks for your prayers and support and miss you all! God bless.
