Staying Active
Well, there’s been a lot going on!
First off about my flight schooling. I’ve been continuing to fly with Dale and he said I’m ready to fly my solo! Problem is that I haven’t heard back from the FAA yet, even though I consistently call them. Which means I still haven’t been able to take care of the testing I need before I get approved to solo. So since I haven’t been able to solo, Dale decided to move on to the cross country flight which we did today. When I went in to get the plane fueled and warmed up, I met this guy named Adam who helped me fuel up. Apparently people around the airport have been talking about what I’m doing and he wanted to help me out. He said that if I need help and he can, that he would be willing to help with fuel, which is such a blessing since money is running low again! It was surprising to hear that people actually know what I’m doing and that he was just interested to help out. It was definitely an encouragement. It felt like just another way God was showing me that he was taking care of me, because this morning when I pulled out money for the gas and flight I saw that I was running low again on money, but before I even prayed for God to provide more money, He had me bump into this guy! I’m thankful for how He takes care of me even before I get to ask Him sometimes.
In other news, I’ve just been spending time with my brother and sister around SAU and working with Jeff on his planes at the Collegedale airport. I’ve also been trying to get down as much as I can to go to the Spanish church at SAU. I’ve really been trying to get involved there and have gotten to know a few of the church members. I started helping out with putlocks a few weeks ago, serving and cleaning up afterwards. A few weeks ago I noticed that they through out their leftovers after church, so I started taking the food downtown to Chattanooga to feed the homeless after potluck. One time I bumped into another adventist church on Sabbath that was also feeding and giving out clothes to the homeless. It was cool to see other churches out doing outreach and feeding the homeless. Honestly, I haven’t really been “involved” in a church since I was in high school. So helping out, getting to know the members, practicing my Spanish, and working on doing more outreach feels really nice and makes me excited to go to church!
Also, I recently went up to visit my parents in Michigan and had a blast spending time with family that I haven’t seen for a long time! It was really nice. We spent a late Christmas together and did a white elephant gift exchange. My family surprised me by all pitching in on buying me an iPad for Christmas, which has already been very useful for my aviation stuff. My cousin also surprised us with the news of her being pregnant! We also went snowboarding at Crystal Mountain with some friends that live up around Cadillac, and at Caberfae with my dad and brother. Michigan was WAY to cold, but it was nice spending time with family.
Last but not least, when I was getting information for my flight this morning I got a text from Pablo, the husband of the mission family that I lived with when I was in Bolivia. He sent me pictures of their new born baby as of this morning! It was so awesome to hear from him and see their new baby! Guess this means I’m going to have to head down there sometime soon to see this little guy. I’m so excited for them! Well, thats about all that’s been happening lately! Thank you all for your continued prayers and for those of you who donate and support in other ways. Please continue to keep me in your prayers as I keep moving forward. Looks like I head out February 11 to go back to Belize.
